My wife found a beautiful, blue Smith-Corona typewriter discarded on a curb in San Francisco and carried it home on the subway for me. The machine turned out to have several quirks and using it feels more like drawing than typing. The broken typewriter became a simple way to explore both the shape and meaning of language.
